Add auto-syncing options (mirroring the autosave options)

It's not completed. Autosync doesn't work in AUTOMATIC.

We now have sync, which is a great feature that I have paid for. But can it be made background sync? A think I spend about 20% off my time in moo waiting for a foreground sync to finish, without the ability to continue working with mlo until the sync is finished. Very annoying, and almost makes me turn off sync..

Autosync, yes please! I was using Evernote as a todo list for a while (not enough horsepower to manage projects etc), and the sync is incredible. All devices are always up to date. Similary "Todo.txt" on the Android market works through Dropbox flawlessly to keep everything current. An option like this is very necessary if you switch devices a lot (as I do), and I would be very interested in seeing added to Windows per your Android version.

1) Please don't forget a good viewable status line, were we can check when the last sync occur
2) Autosync option at start up (before any reminder window pop up)
3) Autosync option at ending the program
4) Forced sync by a button
5) If a part of a task is changed, just sync the changed part not the whole
6) Sync automaticly so that the newest change will be taken (independ were)
7) update the flag "canged" only if really the task is changed not already after viewing the task
8) don't flag a task as changed just because the local reminder is delayed some minutes -

I worked with wunderlist and it's great, but the apps for Android and the desktop have far not that potential as MyLifeOrganiced.
If you implement automatic cloud sync (I'm waiting for it, because it's really one of the most important features - so that you have not always to remember to sync first on all devices), then please add the option to sync always in that way that the newest change of any place, device, cloud will change the older task. And very important: delay the reminder window after opening the program until the sync is made! If not always the reminded task of the newly opened program get's the most current state only because of the reminders.
Many thanks, best regards

Autosync also for BB for us Blackberry users, too!

This is, to me, the last critical feature missing on android. I'd gladly plunk down extra money to have the auto-sync work for android as well as pc.

I have to add my $.02 worth on this as well. Autosync should be the default along with autosave. I've only had MLO for a short time, but purchased the Windows version, the Blackberry version and a couple months of cloud sync to see if it was useful to me. Yes is the answer to that question. However, there are times when I'm at my desk, having been working on MLO, and a call comes in and I have to go. I grab my Blackberry and take off just to realize that I haven't saved OR sync'd. The save part I've got worked out because I save to my DropBox account so I have the same files at home and work. However, since I provide onsite support for a large group of places, it's important to me to have my list with me all the time. It was one of the reasons I used RTM for so long because I had access to it everywhere and when I made a change to it, it was automatically everywhere else that I needed.
To show how committed I am to your product, I've transferred everything out of RTM and put it in MLO, so please don't disappoint me.

Ever tried Wunderlist? Syncing is automated through the cloud.

I've been using cloud sync for about a week now and have also found there really does need to be some sort of auto-sync in place.
On the Android side, the solution would appear to be simple (famous last words): use C2DM. (http://android-developers.blogspot.com/2010/05/android-cloud-to-device-messaging.html)
On the desktop, I like the idea of instant upload. Or, at least, delayed by a couple of minutes so that tweaks to the task can take place before upload.

I have the same problem as Jan at least a few times a month - usually it's forgetting to sync my additions from home that's the problem, so I don't have my task list with me.

Hi,
I would split it to two parts
1) instant upload of new entered or updated tasks to cloud - minimal amount of data and biggest benefit
2) download & sync of local MLO with cloud (manual or every xx minutes)
I am ok with manual synchronization as far as I can get all entered tasks & up to date state from cloud. It drives me crazy when I realize at work that I had entered something to inbox at home and forgot hit F9.... -

I'd love an autosync. I use MLO at home, work, and on my iPhone. If I do a bunch of work in MLO and forget to sync when I go home, I can't do much with it. Then if I make changes at home and forget to sync, I get to work in the morning, and my data is out of date. Adding the option to autosync to MLO cloud would be very helpful.

As of David's suggestion to use VB - it's not necessary to create any VB script. Regular Win task scheduler supports running MLO sync profile using command line arguments without involving VB.

You could sync whenever the app loses focus or the computer is shut down. I'm not sure data would be too expensive, but if so, just raise the price of the sync.

Sync should be going in background!

hmm.. i think, if traffic is the problem, then implement autosync one a one-day-basis. for sure, it's a k.o. argument for a lot of people. so i'll hope the best for the MLO-Team to find a good solution (or "outsourcing" it to dropbox/FTP/WebDAV?)
perhaps the way in the middle works..

Write a VB script and schedule it to run periodically.

The crazy thing is the MLO already has auto-syncing built in ... to Outlook! And it has very flexible options for talking to Outlook. I used this auto-syncing for over a year until MLO iPhone was released and now suddenly find it a backward step to manual syncing.
I notice that some new iPhone apps have shown up offering cloud sync via dropbox - even a free dropbox account - if Andrey could implement that there would be no additional load on his cloud servers from auto-sync.

I had a conversation with Andrey via email about this-- his primary concern seemed to be the added traffic this would add to the servers.
With the right strategy, this is a non-issue. Time-based automatic synchronization is not desired or required.
What we really want is for the application to "automatically hit f9" at all the same times we would expect the user to.
The app does not need to sync in the background AT ALL until a user is using it (with one small exception). That is, any change that is happening to the cloud version does not matter one whit to my desktop UNTIL I go to my desktop and want to start working with the current file.
The one small exception is where we want a reminder on a task to be pushed out to a device, such that users who are not paying attention to the file do receive the reminder on their devices, even if they don't check in with MLO prior to the alarm time. This being said, this situation is currently not covered anyway.
I just can't see much good argument against automatic sync'ing in favor of requiring the user to do it manually-- I ~can~ see an argument against time-based sync'ing, particularly when it's not necessary.
