  1. MLO works pretty well under Wine, until we can get a native Linux version. But printing is a problem, as it depends on having parts of IE available. Please consider eliminating this dependency.

  2. I want to put this out for voting, but I have been talking to Andrey about this behind the scenes.

I have requested a slew of features to enable and support multiple users working in one data file via network or cloud sync.

Features are aimed at allowing task assignments, progress reporting, and differing worker/manager views.

All features would be optional-- this could even be a separate product. Currently, there are ways to kludge some of these things by using contexts, notes, etc., but this is to formalize those conventions to leverage what the app can support in terms of…

  3. MLO is not truly portable app, it saves settings in a registry. 1) Add support for storing settings in a config file near mlo.exe (ini, xml). 2) Save relative paths to *.ml files if they are opened from MLO directory.

  4. MLO (Windows) does not have a status bar. It would be a nice addition to display a few basic statistics in a status bar (total tasks, completed, etc.)

  5. Some formatting options are available directly in the sidebar; to reach others I hav to click "More" and go through three different tabs. Formatting tasks this way is (a) slow and (b) makes it hard to achieve consistency. Styles would be a nice addition: named sets of formatting properties that could be applied with one or two clicks.

  6. Many competing to-do managers allow attaching external files to individual to-do items. It would be very useful to do this in MLO, and be able to open such attachments by double-clicking. (Attachment icons could be displayed in the sidebar).

Im using MLO to track planned features and bugs in my software projects. I'd obviously find it highly useful to attach screenshots, log reports etc.

  7. Sometimes a task is added but never completed because it becomes irrelevant, or was an incorrect idea to begin with, etc. Deleting such tasks will leave no record of them; marking them as "completed" would falsify the data. It would be great to be able to mark tasks as "canceled" or "rejected" (or choose yor own, more precise term). In the UI, such tasks should porobably be treated as completed taskls, e.g. when hiding/filtering, etc.
(I use MLO to track planned features and bugs in Delphi software I write. Preserving the "rejected ideas" would be very useful in this context),

  8. Quite often I add one-off sub-tasks to a repeating tasks which I do not want to recur when the recurring task is marked as done. eg I have a routine for closing the office which contains a list of sub-tasks which I do each time I close the office. However, I may want to add other tasks to this recurring task which are just one off things to remember that night. In this case, I would a) like to mark them as not to recur (or to mark the other tasks as to recur) and b) for the completed sub-task…

  10. Example: Project A: step 1 & 2: must be done daily, step 3 weekly, step 4 DAILY ...
Currently, either you have to have every step show up on the task list, or step 4 will not show until one week later when you do step 3. If step 4 is due daily, and step 3 is not due yet, step 4 needs to be a next action when step 2 is done.

  11. I would appriciate to have kind of follow up function. Sometimes when assign a task I do not get a response at the first time and I need to imput a new task. I would be handy to have a function to allow me on a clict to close current task a add new one which would be allow to have the same title for example. All such tasks would be linked together so there could be a report to see the progress, timestamps etc.

  12. in the PPC versions, when you select view by context and select multiple contexts, tasks are grouped by contexts. For instance, you can display @errands and @calls together but separately. In this way you can, for instance, making phone calls while you are up and about making errands.

In the Iphone version if you select multiple tasks in the "active by context" view, all tasks are grouped in one big list: not useful at all!

  13. as in the window and the PPC versions, I would like to have the possibility to encode the parent project's name in the task view. very useful to manage long task lists in context view.

  14. I was used to assign a red color to flag overdue appointments, blue to projects etc. At present, everything is presented with standard colours (grey background and black foreground).

Without colours, I find the user interface somehow dull and not to apt to signal properly overdue tasks

  16. Example:
I ride the subway every morning and evening. In the morning I read a book. In the evening I listen to educational podcasts. So, I want to have a context "underground" open all day, the context of the "morning" open in the morning, and the context of "evening" open in the evening, assigned to appropriate tasks and prominent in the list of "To-Do" in the appropriate open time. Now, if the context of "underground" is open all day, the task is in the To-Do list all day, despite its other closed contexts.

  18. Allow options in preferences to sync not just outline data, but ToDo views data, auto-formatting, themes, etc. Every time I create new ToDo lists I have to recreate them on all machines.

  19. While browsing the web or working in a desktop app, I want to:

    a) be able to select some text.
    b) right-click it and select an option which "add selected text to MLO task"

    MLO would then EITHER:
    1) Open and auto-paste text to a task and allow you to complete the task header, OR
    2) simply save the text to a task in the background and add it to your inbox with, say, "pasted text" as the task header. Later when you see it, you could change it.

I don't which is better, or if there is a better…
