Outline filtering
When our outline gets unbeareable, we need tools to be able to filter by context (useful when tracking other's responsabilities and wanting to bind those to a project)

Great to see this completed. Where can we find more info on how its implemented?

I have hit a brick wall with the MLO Android client. I cant pull out a list of all tasks (not just active, or next action tasks) by context. Is that what you are talking about here? The ability (on the Android app) to get a list of (all) tasks by context? If that's the case, chalk my vote down for this feature.

It would be great to have filtering in the ToDo list also (or instead?) so that an effective next action list can be generated and controlled. Or is their another way to set up a Next Action list on iPhone MLO... ?

This is great to see. Will definitely help in my adoption of MLO.

A good example of outline filtering can be found on the Android platform. There is a view called "goals" and it keeps the 'outline' of the goals beautifully...indents and all. Now, it's not a perfect representation but it's interesting to see the core functionality in existence in some form or fashion.

I would like to be able to view tasks GROUPED by context and when you enter a new task within a context group, that task would automatically be assigned that context.

I have just one outline filter that i would absolutely love. that is a check box to hide future tasks. knowing that everyone whats something different, i'm comfortable around a complex outline filter so that the outline can be tweaked to virtually however an end user wants. I've been after this for many years and have suggested it many times. With any luck just around the corner??

Having moved - after a long and happy time spent using it - to MLO, this is a major feature which I miss. I'm generally not interesting in the ToDo view but in filtering the outline by context or a more refined filter.

Yes Dwight, you are right. My comment on "more than context" is for outline filtering, all the items you list is on the to do (no hierarchical).

I personally wouldn't say they are the same thing, but they both are around the same need - the ability to filter at the outline level rather than the todo level.
Personally I want a lot more than context as a filtering criteria. Look at InfoQube, Bonsai, ListPro, OmniOutliner, Ecco Pro, Outlook, Shadow Plan, or any good outline tool for examples of what we need.
Even though I was one of the original users (and donators) of MLO, I've stopped using it because it doesn't filter the outline.

Djs, could you comment in which way / how they are effectively the same? I though I understand both suggestions pretty well--but until I saw your comment.

Wow, this looks to be the same idea as: http://mlo.uservoice.com/forums/9235-general/suggestions/1042699-have-tabs-in-to-do-view-to-allow-quick-switching-b?ref=title.
If the votes were combined it would be the top request at 261 Votes as per this writing.

I haven't made the move from Palm + Bonsai to Android + MLO, yet. This might just make the difference.

Let's take this one step further and allow multiple 'views' for outlines, just like the regular views tab.
Example #1
Filter by task and subtasks
1. Select the task and subtasks you want to focus (zoom) on.
2. Give this view a name.
3. Now it is in a list of filtered outline views that you can select.Example #1
Filter by contexts
1. Select the context you want to focus on.
2. Give this view a name.
3. Now it is in a list of filtered outline views that you can select. You can do the same thing with projects or any other type of possible view focusing....

+1 for outline filtering, although I would prefer being able to filter by project status rather than context. Currently, for a review of the validity of the projects, which involves toggling the project status and defining next actions, I am switching back and forth between the outline and a view configured specifically for this review.
