Allow multiple windows on same file so that you can drag/drop
At the moment, I find the move function virutally useless because it is impossible to see and edit the task in context of where you have moved to without losing your place in your inbox (which is where you are normally moving the tasks from).
Implemented in 4.x

While the simple "new windows" 4.x added do add the ability for drag/drop, they are very limited in what you can do with them. I created this uservoice for adding more feature rich additional windows - http://mlo.uservoice.com/forums/9235-general/suggestions/4132240-support-multiple-windows-on-the-same-data-with-ful

@Chris Roberts: when you are in any view, you can click F3 and this will open a separate window based on that view. The new window remains fixed in that view but you can continue switching views in the main MLO window and drag and drop stuff from one window to the other.

Apologies if I am missing something here, but I am not sure how the 4.x release addresses this issue which specifically talks to the difficulty of using the 'move' function to get items from Inbox to the appropriate project when you have a large outline. I just played around with this to see if I could drag/drop from one workspace tab to another and that does not appear to be the case. What functionality in v4.x do you believe makes it more straightforward to 'move' items around in a large outline without paging through the entire outline? If there is a proper method for doing this in 4.x I definitely want to take advantage of it.
Thanks

Matthew's use case is almost exactly the same as mine. As recommended by the Pomodoro technique: if a thought comes into your head, write it down and remain focussed on your current task. I would much prefer to have separate application windows (as per Word) rather than a split window (or multiple 'document' windows within the application window - as per Excel) because I use multiple monitors and it is much much easier to allocate separate windows to different monitors than it is to have one application window and stretch this acrosss two monitors (particularly as mine are different sizes)

This is one of my top 2 desired enhancements to the desktop MLO.
The use case is this: I use Rapid Task Entry on the desktop all the time and create items that need to later be moved to children of projects, but not until I have time to think things through. Rapid task entry into a temp folder allows me to create “notes to self” that I can flesh out later. I also tend to pile up a lot of duplicate tasks, rapid entering spur of the moment ideas throughout the day and also dumping entire other to-do lists into MLO via rapid task entry. Being able to open (in the desktop version) a fairly complete project tree in one window, unprocessed tasks in another, and move stuff between the two windows but in the same database, would really help my thought processing. -

I second Chris's idea of a split pane. Think MS Excel. Drag up a bar from the bottom to create a dual pane list of what ever view you are currently in.

It is not clear if this request falls into the current scope of the product roadmap (http://groups.google.com/group/mylifeorganized/browse_thread/thread/2f85f82025a90b33#).

How about a split pane, each with it's own scroll bar, rather than two separate windows?
