FREE cloud sync using Dropbox
New iPhone apps have shown up offering free cloud sync via dropbox - all you need is a free dropbox account. If MLO could sync via dropbox it would be free and one less thing for us to worry about keeping up payments on!

Ladies and Gentlemen. You don't want this. Trust me. The beauty of what MLO has set up is that he is syncing records, not files. If a Dropbox solution is set up, it can only compare one whole file with another whole file. This is the least efficient way to sync two sets of information within a file, like MLO is doing. It causes considerable data loss if you aren't VERY careful about which machine holds the latest copy of the information. The chances of you forgetting which machine has the latest version or a sync failing when you thought it went through creates a situation where you start to distrust your system.
Dropbox syncs files. MLO syncs records. Smells the same, but it is fundamentally different. Pull your votes from here and put them somewhere else.

Drop Box is in Fact Working for PC Synch so long as the Files Are closed when moving from Computer to Computer.
Trick then would be to use drop box on Android and IOS. My experience is that I can WiFI Synch to one of my Computers (or both if I reset the settings) and it all works. Drop Box -- always Synching though would be the IDEAL Solution. Maybe it does, but I doubt it.

I am an iPhone snob, however, I would love to see auto-syncing with Dropbox! I use Dropbox religiously on just about every computer and phone that I have. Currently, I have my database in dropbox so I can just pick up and go when I get to my home computer, or my tablet....or whatever. I'm not sure I would pay $9.99 or $14.00 for an app as you require a subscription to the MLO cloud in order to sync currently. However, add Dropbox and adjust your prices some and I think you'd have a winning combination!

Sorry not going to justify $9.99 or $14.99 for the app and then a month subscription to cloud feature. There are several compeating apps (like the previously mentioned iAdd and Informant HD) that provide this feature for free. Looked really hard at this app after downloading to my Android phone, but going to stick with Pocket Informant that integrates with Todeledo via Dropbox unless you are going to offer this feature.

If I understand correctly, dropbox would move the whole profile from one platform to the other, is that right? As opposed to the MLO cloud sync, which goes record-by-record, taking each record from the side where is was most recently modified. It sounds to me as though a dropbox-type solution would force me to pick one platform for all of my updates, or else to rigorously force myself to ensure that there was a full and successful sync right before and right after everytime I pick up a device and add or complete a task. Or risk having my updates overwritten by old data from the other side. If this is correct, then I don't think dropbox would be a very usable or reliable solution.

Ditto on the fact that Dropbox would encrypt.

I'm using CloudSync now but it would be nice to have syncing as a free feature. I love MLO though.

+3 votes. Let me also add, this would allow me to encrypt my data before sending to the cloud, since you do not support this in your service.

As an example here is iAdd, a competitor to MLO on the iPhone, which offers free cloud sync using Dropbox:
