Android: allow dates to be selected from a 'month-at-time' mini-calendar
Please, when selecting dates (reminders, due dates etc) can we have a mini-calendar view in MLO Android, showing the Weekdays and dates for the current month. It could have scroll buttons to jump from month to month, or even to change year, and the ability to select a date by pressing on that day in the calendar view. Maybe it could even have a 'today' button?
Here's why:
Currently when I set a date on my Android phone, I get a box with JUST the month, the day (in numbers only; the weekday only shows, above, for the currently selected date) and the year.
I have to EDIT this date by overtyping a different date and/or using the '+/- scroll' buttons separately for each element of the date.
If I '+' my way to the end of a month and keep going, it doesn't automatically change to the next month. It just cycles back to 1st, 2nd, etc. And I have to '+' repeatedly to move days and weeks ahead. There's no ability to 'jump' to a future date quickly (except overtyping numbers).
Now, on my Windows version of MLO (and in many other s/w packages), as well as editing the date/time, I can display a drop down 'month-at-a-time' calendar and see both 'today' and the date I have tentatively selected highlighted in a visual way.
(In fact, I've just explored the Windows MLO functionality and it's even better than I thought. If you click on the year at the top of the calendar, it zooms out to 'decade-view', and if you click on the decade, it zooms out to 'multiple-decades' view. You can zoom your way back in 20 years ahead if you so wish, by clicking! Cool!)
Back to Android: I (and many others) process things pretty visually, which means that without this calendar view on Android, I always have to stop and think:
is that today's date I'm seeing in front of me?
what IS today's date?
what Weekday are we today?
hmmm.. if I want to set next Tuesday's date, what will the date (in numbers) be THEN?
In fact, usually, I have to refer to my calendar on Outlook to be able to 'see' what my required date is. Then I have to overtype or laboriously '+' my way to it.
A mini-calendar view for selecting dates in MLO Android would make the process potentially faster for all, and much easier for the many 'visually-oriented' users.
Thank you.
