User-Defined Custom Clickable Links in Notes Field
Currently some strings in a Notes field are automatically recognized and made clickable (eg, a web address is converted to a clickable hyperlink). Other strings require being prepended with "file:" in order to turn them into a hyperlink. A common example is local links to specific Evernote Notes, which have the format of "evernote:///view/......". Another example is Thunderlink: "thunderlink://messageid=......".
I propose that MLO for Desktop, and also for Android (and iPhone), add the ability for users to define strings (or protocols) to be matched in the Notes field and then treated as hyperlinks. Additionally it would probably be good to have the ability to define which program (or app, on mobile devices) the link should be sent to. On Windows if a protocol is properly registered then this second option should not need additional configuration. But I can imagine there might be situations where a user would need to customize this.
The mobile component for this is probably more tricky in it's execution, as the desired app (eg, Evernote) might not have a method for receiving a call (or pointer) to a specific note, file, etc. But if an app does have some method, then at least the user could define that in MLO mobile. And at a minimum the user could set the string to just open the desired app, even if there's no exposed method (by that app) for then going to a specific place in that app. Thus the same string in a Notes field could be interpreted differently on each platform.
Thanks for considering my idea!

PS-For those that are interested, Thunderlink is a fantastic Thunderbird extension that allows you to create a link to a specific email. This then allows you to create a Task in MLO that contains a link to an email in Thunderbird. Just be sure to prepend "file:" in order for MLO to recognize it as a link (ie, "file:thunderlink://messageid=....."). Thunderlink has the ability to make the created link contain the "file:" already prepended, so then you just have to paste the string into your Rapid Task Entry box for MLO. Also, here's a few UserVoice threads related to wanting more control over making clickable strings/protocols in the Notes field:
