I'd really like to see this feature implemented. There have been some suggestions about gant charts and calendar views but I agree that the first implementation should be to show a sum of min and max time in the status bar for tasks that are selected. This would be the most flexible. It would also be nice to get that information for a To Do list as displayed, which is similar. The visible To Do list is the "selected tasks" unless some subset is selected.
