The way I achieve this kind of thing is by using something like MaxTo (my preferred choice) and then also hiding the Task Properties Pane when I have MLO "docked" to one side of my screen or the other. I have MaxTo configured for a 2/3 & 1/3 setup (and then also a 1/3 & 2/3 alternate setup); between those window arrangements and the built in (for Windows 7) 50/50 arrangements I have a nice assortment of window sizes to work with. So for "docking" MLO I would just send it to either the right or left side at 1/3 size (with my main program then being at 2/3 size).

    Links:
    http://maxto.net/
http://www.brianapps.net/sizer/ (another option that I sometimes use for special, less used window arrangements)

I agree--that would be super-helpful! I have sometimes missed important things because I didn't think to manually refresh the view. Not having this be automatic diminishes the usefulness of being able to make time-specific tasks (since one may end up not seeing at the appropriate time).

Yes! It would be greatly appreciated if we were able to use all the various right-click shortcuts for dates (eg, Next Day, in 4 days, etc.).

It does appear that clicking the Due Date column does take you to the Task Recurrence dialog box, but this doesn't work for the Start Date column (and many users would like the option for Start-Date-only recurring tasks: https://mlo.uservoice.com/forums/9235-general/suggestions/1122791-make-an-option-to-add-recurence-to-start-date-not ). Also it appears that Alt+D now does open the Task Recurrence dialog box, which is appreciated.

But again, it would be fantastic to be able to utilize the menu shortcuts. I have a number of recurring tasks for which I often want to shift them to the next day, a week or two later, etc. And right now it is a bit cumbersome to do that (and definitely no way to do it en masse the way one can with regular tasks, by selecting multiple and then selecting something like "Next Day" for one of them while all are highlighted).

    Thanks!

I agree--it would be nice to create recurring tasks with Start Date only. Like others, I prefer to reserve Due Dates for actual *hard* dates.

Also, somewhat related thread regarding making it easier to change the Date of a recurring task:

Yeah, it's not *true* background auto sync yet. If MLO Android is open in the background then you get some form of auto sync, but that's not what users expect.

I would like for it to sync in the background even if MLO is not open in the background. That way, my database on my Android device is always fairly current, even if I haven't opened MLO Android recently. Then, when I'm someplace without wifi I can work with my most current MLO data without having to connect over my cell connection first to be sure to download the most recent changes.

I don't currently use the Goals feature, so I have not tried the following: But have you tried manually inputting the time frame you want? I have noticed in other places in MLO Desktop that even if the drop down does not contain the interval I want that I can manually enter the interval and it is correctly interpreted and recorded.

Does this apply to *any* view which allows manual sorting, or only the built-in views Starred and Active Starred (which cannot be modified and saved)? I have created my own version of the Active Starred view, based on the original default view, but manual sorts are not being synced between my two desktops. I'm syncing via MLO Cloud.

That's a clever idea! :) So would this mean then putting everything to be parsed in the email Subject, and then anything in the email Body would be added to the Task Note?

I'm not a regular user of Gantt charts, but I think that the Dependency capability in MLO (and perhaps also SubTasks, and Complete Tasks in Order?) seem to lend themselves well to Gantt display. There is a large Calendar-related thread (link is below), and I wonder if a Calendar Display couldn't also have some form of Gantt-Mode to it that would display dependencies and what not? It is probably better for those you use Gantt charts more regularly to chime in over there regarding how well that might work (or not), but I posted some basic thoughts in that direction in the Calendar thread. For reference, here's the two current threads related to Calendar:

I agree that some kind of Calendar View/Display would be helpful for visualizing when Tasks are scheduled, and also for drag/drop ability for planning when to do some Tasks. Some additional thoughts:
    -Ability to display Calendar at same time as other Views; option for displaying at top or bottom (and maybe also either side?) of window;
-Option for Day Display (which could be configurable to be more than one day, eg, 2 days, 3 days), Week Display (option to configure as being between 7 and 5 days), and Month Display. Each of these 3 Displays should remember their subwindow size and position (eg, top and 300px tall), as it will probably be different for each one (eg, the Month Display will need more space than the Week Display, in order to be useable).
-Perhaps have a Gantt-like-mode, where we can drag a Task onto another Task to create a Dependency (ie, drag Task2 onto Task1 to make Task2 dependent on completion of Task1), and display Dependencies in a Gantt-like manner.
-Option to only display Tasks on the Calendar that have a Date. Dragging a Task onto the Calendar could then assign it a Start and Due Date of that Date. Dragging either side of the Task could then change those Dates--this could function like how Outlook handles All-Day (ie, no time) Appointments, which is basically what Tasks are. I realize that MLO Tasks can have a Time as well, but I think we might be asking a bit much of the developer and the Calendar interface if we want it to also display things at a time-level too.

Just for reference, here's two other threads related to Calendar and/or Gantt display:

I agree. All of those would be nice. In my case I tend to prefer adding a new subtask to the *bottom* of a list. Everyone will have their own preferences, so just being able to configure things would be nice.

I suppose this might be something where some users might like to configure the behavior on a per-Task basis, so perhaps make it so that there is a user-defined default behavior, and that provide the ability to over-ride that for specific Tasks?

@Paul Hylander: The MLO author has indicated elsewhere (https://mlo.uservoice.com/forums/9235-general/suggestions/1920491-make-custom-views-available-via-the-cloud-to-andr) that syncing views across platforms won't be possible, but that he is working on our being able to create custom views on Android (and iOS), which I'm also looking forward to.

As I mention in that other thread, I'd like to suggest here as well that it would be great if we could sync all data that can possibly be synced at least within the same platforms. So, with two Windows machines, being able to sync Views, Tabs, Auto-Formatting, etc. between those two machines. That data would not sync (per the author's statement) between Windows and another platform, such as Android. But it would be fantastic if, once custom Views are able to be created on Android, if those custom Views on one Android device would sync to MLO on other Android devices the user has.

I'm *really* liking MLO, and thanks for considering my suggestions! :)
